Math Teacher Neal Math and Science Academy, North Chicago, IL Sixth Grade Aug 2014- Present
- As PLC Lead, I organized and conducted the 6th grade math team meetings where we discussed data, lessons, and creation of assessments increasing our effective, data driven curriculum.
- Attended Professional Development sessions by The Danielson Group on reflective practice and refining skills to be a teacher-leader. These sessions helped to enhance our practices as teachers and leaders in the district.
- As a co-teacher, I created a more personalized learning environment to empower students at their level and saw higher assessment scores, less re-teaching, and less behavioral disruptions.
- Created project based assessments for cumulative end of unit assessments to increase student’s engagement and to ensure that standards are being met.
- Was a part of the PBIS team that sponsored numerous dances, school-wide activities, and fundraisers positively improved the school’s culture and climate.
- As a member of the Building Leadership Team, we collaborated to improve student attendance and create social emotion initiatives including a “School Kick Off” next year.
- Regularly lead Sixth Grade Morning Meeting, which set students up for a successful day academically and socially and in turn saw an increased sense of community.
- In instances when the Assistant Principal was unavailable, served as back up by leading grade-level meetings, organizing projects, and carrying out communication from upper leadership.

- Attended NWEA Fusion, where I participated in numerous sessions on how to utilize MAP data both in the classroom and in the community and implemented these strategies during our Families For Student Success on a quarterly basis.
- Regularly met with Administration to collaborate on building-wide initiatives to improve procedures and building-level systems.
- Lead building-level Professional Development on Data Wise to improve teacher’s data literacy and increase data driven reflective practice of instruction.
Student Teaching Dundee Highlands Elementary, West Dundee, IL Third Grade Mar- May 2014
- Created a science unit on plants including reading and writing standards in a mini lesson/science station format increasing the variety of instruction, which improved the students overall science scores.
- Planned math instruction with four special education students who pushed into the general education classroom by researching and implementing the best strategies that would help the students become more successful.
